News|December 7th, 2010
Air Liquide, a French industrial gas company has partnered with Bharati Airtel for a pilot project towards making cell towers environment friendlier. Through the project, Air Liquide aims to replace diesel fuel generators with environment friendly hydrogen fuel for meeting the power requirements of cell towers.
“We have partnered Bharti to replace diesel-fuelled telecom towers with hydrogen — a technology that will not only be economical but also environment-friendly,” said Benoit Potier, chairman and CEO of Air Liquide.
It seems the Department of Telecom (DoT) is also in favor of those who use alternative energies. DoT have plans to provide subsidies and incentives to operators using renewable energy.
